Round One: Nashville Predators

Well, if you're like me... things are a lot different this time of year. You become overly superstitious. Your nails become victims of being anxious about how the hockey game is going to go. I know I've worn the same clothes before, driven to work the same way before, or maybe you all have some other little thing you do for when your team is playing in the playoffs. I know I lose some productivity here at work... Much time is devoted to sitting there and recapping the games from the night before, replaying all the plays in your head... and well. I know I lose a lot of production time during this time of year. My favorite time of the year. The NHL Playoffs. :)

But thats just me.

For the past 4 hours, I've done nothing but look up previews, and read articles on the teams and how they are expected to perform. And I don't think there has been another year quite like this that the whole Western Conference has been so up for grabs like it has been. Its going to be an interesting ride for the series.

Tonight the Detroit Red Wings face off against the Nashville Predators. For the 2nd time in 2 decades, they are actually starting their playoffs away from home. And this year with the Red Wings road record... there leaves a lot to be nervous about. Am I going to be one to try to make a prediction? Hell no. I don't do that. Hockey is the one game out there that can be decided by the smallest of manners. Its just if the hockey gods have you in their favor.. things tend to work out for you a little bit more.

Since this is supposed to be about the Wings, I'll tell you this. Game one is going to be the indicator of the entire series. If the Wings come out looking flat, its going to be quick and painful for the Wings and this series. However, if they are able to weather the storm of Nashville having home-ice advantage for this series... and be able to put their power play to work... I think the Wings might have a chance in here.
