According to Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune, the Minnesota Wild and GM Chuck Fletcher have some decisions to make. The team has 9 unrestricted free agents for this upcoming summer such as Owen Nolan, Derek Boogard, Kim Johnsson, Marek Zidlicky, Eric Belanger, John Scott, Petr Sykora, Andrew Ebbett, & Shane Hnidy. Russo suggests that the Wild are going to try to land in the playoffs so the decisions made in the next couple of months will shape the future of the Wild franchise. Russo also says that Owen Nolan could be prime trade bait, at 38 years old he adds a veteran's presence to any playoff bound team that needs a gritty forward.
Hendricks Says : Many UFAs upcoming for the Minnesota Wild. I think they mihgt wheel and deal the deadline. They are in position to still make a run at the playoffs, so a deal could be had. Russo also listed RFAs the team has. One is Josh Harding, and I can see the team dealing him off possibly at the deadline.Harding would be their best asset though to try and move and bring some top talent to make a playoff run in Minnesota. Should be interesting to see what decisions Chuck Fletcher makes.

Make a move at the deadline? That's unheard of!
Hah, for the Wild it is typically. The biggest trade I can think of is the Chris Simon debacle in 2008. Yaaaay.
And Harding is trade bait? WHOA! You don't say! Knock me down with a feather. I'm surprised he hasn't been traded yet.

Holy hell! I guess I didn't realize how many UFAs we had :(
Wouldn't surprise me to see Harding go, though I think he's a solid backup for Backstrom.
It would be sad to see Nolan go though. I like him here, he's a good fit for the team.

I would love to see a massive deal such as Burns, Sheppard, and a pick for Kovalchuck. This team does need more goal scoring power, that one guy that can finish whose name is not Mikko. Havlat is not a bust, he is having a poor year but to me he is a Rolston replacement not a Gaborik replacement. Sykora could be a Wild for a couple years if he can regain his form and get out Todd Richards dog house as he seems to occupy.
