According to Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Dispatch, he notes Petr Sykora and Andrej Meszaros have been healthy scratches for their respective clubs in back to back games. He ponders if they could trade bait for the March 3rd deadline.

Hendricks Says : Sykora could be possible trade bait, as he is a UFA at the end of this season and has a reasonable contract with the club. Teams like the Penguins, Devils, Capitals or the Kings could be possible teams that would take a look at Petr Sykora. Meszaros has a horrible contract and I think the Lightning could look at a possible buyout on him in the offseason. He makes $4 million per season and has two years remaining, Meszaros is not worth that kind of cabbage.

I would find it so ironic if the Pens ended up re-acquiring Sykora after he left the team following last season. He and Dan Bylsma don't seem to be on the same page, so I don't think Ray Shero would take that kind of chance on Sykora. However, I do see Sykora definitely having a chance of being moved at the deadline, to a team in need of another scorer who can fill a power play spot. As for Meszaros, due to injuries on the blue line for Tampa, he will be back in the lineup for them now. He still may be dealt, though, as it gets past the Olympic break. Big ticket for him, though.

I don't think Sykora is going to be a hot item at the deadline, at all. I know Minnesota fans aren't happy with him. Pittsburgh definitely isn't interested.

I don't know how Minny fans could be upset with the guy, he hasn't played. I'd argue Wild fans are wondering why they signed a guy to just let him rot on the sideline.

As far as trading the guy, he has always been able to score goals, I would think someone would love to have him on the 3rd line heading into the playoffs. Time will tell.

Nobody in Minnesota is mad at him. There's just no room for him, so why not move him? Though I agree that Pit would not be a viable destination.
