The Islanders have a tough challenge tonight as they will host the New Jersey Devils. The good news is that The Isles shutout the Devils just a few days ago. They will look to do the same tonight in order to move up in the standings.
With a win, New York has a chance to move up to sixth in the Eastern Conference. The Devils are sitting comfortably atop the Conference, only three points behind Washington.
These two teams have met three times this season, with New Jersey holding a slight 2-1 advantage. The home team has won all three games. The Islanders have won their last six games at home, including a 2-1 win over the Panthers in their last game.
The Isles do not have much room for error right now. Although they are 7-2-1 in their last ten, Montreal and Philadelphia sit just one point behind New York.
Brodeur played last night for New Jersey, so there is a slight chance that Yann Danis, a former Islander, could start in net tonight. However, Brodeur does not get much rest, but maybe he needs it.
Brodeur is 1-4-0 in his last five starts on the Island with a goals-against average of 3.96. Last time he faced the Islanders he was pulled from the game, which is something you don't see everyday.
The Islanders and Devils have a little more balanced scoring than most teams. They have seven players with at least 20 points. Zach Parise is searching for his 50th point of the season for New Jersey. Kyle Okposo has 33 points to lead the Isles
Will the Islanders be able to defeat the Devils on home ice again?

Isles have had sluggish starts the past two games which is different from the rest of the games in their recent run (one was most likely from fatigue though the start against Florida was a bit disconcerting.)
If they come out hard in the first or at least get their legs while it's still a hockey game it should be a good game.

Brodeur will be starting again tonight. Danis probably would have, but he was ill on Friday. He didn't even travel to Long Island with the team.
It doesn't even say anything about who the backup will be, even in emergency... Stand corrected. He WILL dress, as he drove out himself. Just not start.

Dang, I was hoping Chico would get dressed as an emergency back-up.
