Yeah i was going for the funny... It is never good renaming an arena when you are so use to what it was... The Devils arena changed names a few times before moving and changing the name again. I always knew it as the Meadowlands Arena.

As did I, even before I knew that it was named for Brendan Byrne. And of course, I was too young and didn't live in NJ to know who he was back then.

This is one of the reasons why I don't like corporate-named stadiums/arenas. Any time the company changes names or gets bought out/merges with another company, the name of the arena changes. And then you also get the issue of Enron Field in Houston...

Or a more recent example, the squabble between the Preds and the Sommet Group which lead to Bridgestone becoming the title sponsor of the arena.

I'm just really surprised that Comcast just hasn't bought out the naming rights.

Afterall....I'm giving it 10 years, but Comcast will eventually own Philadelphia.

I'm not too thrilled for this name...it's lame...really. I'll still be calling it the wachovia center. Ive overheard people calling it the Farg! Im thinking wow this is gonna take some time to get used to. I actually was driving past there just this past weekend and saw them taking the sign down. :/
