I've been missing hockey since my Predators got smacked around by the sharks AGAIN. I still followed the playoffs till the end, but it's just never the same as following my own team. It certainly isn't going to be the same team we saw the previous two seasons. We'll be more like the Predators of 03-04. I look forward to a season of eaking by the competition each night. Hopefully we can secure the eighth spot, but I don't see us doing much better than that (especially with Sullivan missing the first two months of play). His line with Arnott and Dumont will be solid when he's back. Hopefully Legwand and Erat can continue to thrive without the presence of Paul Kariya on their line. We're really counting on a big year from Radulov. Who knows, maybe Jed Ortmeyer will have a breakthrough year with 10 goals and 10 assists! If in contention for the playoffs, we'll have to make some big trades for big names. I would feel a lot better if we were heading into this season with Adam Hall on the right wing or maybe a Jason Allison playing as the third line center. The good news is there are a lot of quality defensive forwards on the team: Bonk, Ortmeyer, Smithson, Nichol, Fiddler, etc. I do like that we're more of a blue collar team again. I was a little tired of relying on strictly skill to win games. I want to see some of that fiestiness back. I predict even more fighting majors from Tootoo, Hordichuk, and Nichol this season. It's admirable to see such little packages buck up to the big fellas. We're not going to win a cup this year, but the fight will be very much alive. I'm really not even worried about our play on defense. Teams are going to have a hard time scoring goals. Our numbers will look a lot like Calgary of last year. My prediction for teams finishing in the western conference: Anaheim, Detroit, Minnesota, San Jose, Colorado, Dallas, Vancouver, Calgary or Nashville. Nashville will only have a shot at the eighth spot because of such a weak division (AGAIN). Calary will only miss the playoffs because they are in a very tough division. Give me your reactions.

I'm a BlueJackets fan (as few and far between as WE are) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shock1.gif) and I'd hate to see the Preds move out of Nashville as they are my 2nd team. I live close to their AHL affliliate (Milwaukee) and get to see all the guys like Tootoo, Bonk, Fiddler, Radulov, Klein, Suter, and Zanon (just to name a few) before they become NHL stars. I can't imagine those guys in another uniform other than the Preds. Nashville has got to keep this team.

As you can see, I don't post here often. I stay on my Preds boards. Anyway, the bulletin caught my eye and I wanted to respond.

Pred fans know what is at stake. We know about the attendance issues, we know about the ownership fiasco, and we know that every single loss might be a strike against us. It's different watching the team this year becuase if we have an exciting win it will help (or atleast not hurt) our attendance but if we lose "the sky is falling" in Smashville. We do have a great individual fan base, its our corporate that is lacking. The die-hards know where to eat and shop. Go down Broadway and pretty much every honkytonk (yes, I said honkytonk) has a sign stating that they are proud season ticket holders of the Nashville Predators.

For Pred fans, this summer was a ride on the rollercoaster from hel l and its not over yet. We have dealt with other teams "fans" criticizing us because we somehow don't DESERVE our team. I can't understand how anyone could wish our situation on anybody. The media (including our local rag) has not helped the situation at all. When we lose or something bad happens its a sure thing for the cover... a win gets us a mention on the 6th page. No wonder I had half of my co-workers saying "The Preds aren't doing too well right now" after we just won 3 straight, they don't get any decent coverage to help the city know otherwise.

The season started out kind of rocky for the Preds but they have played a gritty game to help turn it around recently. The season is still very early but so far I'm proud of my guys. I personally think that Jason Arnott is (and will continue to be) a great Captain. He's different from what Kimmo was last season and I think its for the better. He's a team player. He may not be a "superstar" but he represents what our team is this year, not how it was. How many people expected Jordin Tootoo to tie his season record goals in the first 16 games? How many people expected Greg Zanon to be the powerhouse that he is? How many people expected Smithson's butt to score the GWG against FL? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shiny.gif) I can tell you that the Nashville fans didn't!

Nashville fans are proud fans. We will not give up until the end. This includes what happens on and off the ice. I've watched games on tv this season and was shocked to hear the amount of people booing their teams. We didn't even boo our team when we lost horribly to the Yotes. If we're frustrated in the stands, we will almost certainly start a "Let's Go Predators" chant or something to get the crowd going. We know what COULD end up happening and we will not let our team down. Just because we're in the south, in a "nontraditional market", where none of the current adult fans have grown up playing hockey, in an area that gets no snow... EVER, doesn't mean we don't love our team and the sport. We do and I can't wait for things to work themselves out so I can simply watch a game instead of analyzing everything else that comes along with it.

Oh, someone is so deluded if they think we don't know and love our hockey here in Nashville.

Namaste to that mofo!
