I am hoping that the cincinnati cyclones will be upgraded to an AHL team, I heard rumors about them being Nashvilles farm team, but who knows if it will happen.

Jack Skille is going to rock the league's collective socks off! Plus, Corey Crawford is a stud. I think Rockford will do okay this year, just like last (when they were the Norfolk Admirals). Got a lot of talent (due to how bad the Hawks have been the last decade).

Grew up going to Adirondack Red Wings games but I believe that franchise folded after I moved to North Carolina. Went to games when Barry Melrose coached there. I also went to a couple Albany River Rats games before moving south. Might have to cheer for them now that they are the affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.

I was there, if just a wee lad when John Wensink beat Les Cunning (Nova Scotia Voyageurs) unconscious at center ice. I was there when Murray Kuntz scored his 50th and 51st goals in the last home game. I saw Paul Gardner and Jody Gage each score their 60th goals. I was sitting behind the visiting net when Gage broke the franchise record for goals. I was there when (and knew the guys who) threw suspended Hershey goon Greg Smyth down the stairs during the '87 Calder Cup run. I frequently drank with the '96 Champs (and slept with a couple of their rejects). My all-time favorite squad was the 92-93 team that beat Binghampton in the semis before losing to Cape Breton in the finals.
Was a season-ticket holder for a long time, but I just don't go anymore.
The caliber of hockey is just too far below what I'd gotten accustomed to living on. There were 16-21 NHL teams, and 10-12 AHL teams when I cut my teeth on this stupid game.
Now the best AHL teams are on a par with what would've been IHL teams back in the day (when the CHL was the 'other' minor-pro league).
Where I live, I get all the Sabres, Rangers, Islanders and Devils games on TV, plus Versus and NBC. I don't need to traipse 40 miles down the thruway anymore to watch what they're putting on the ice these days.
I guess I'm an old fogey now. They got rid of the organist, there's idiot throwing t-shirts into the crowd with rubber bands while the play is on, the crowd is mugging for the damned Jumbotron instead of watching the game, and the next time I hear 'Gotta Keep 'Em SepaRATED' after a fight, I'm going to kill myself. Even if the game were worth watching, they wouldn't let me watch it in peace.
I'd much rather go to an RIT (college) game for my 'arena atmosphere fix.'
