Trade to announce:

Fire Wings trade Ryan Kelser, David Krejci and Jack Campbell to the Fire Ants for Alexander Ovechkin, Jarred Tinordi and Carl Klingberg.

Ovechkin was a player we targeted as the #1 fantasy player to own and we were willing to do whatever it took to get him. Unfortunately for us we missed the final rounds of the draft and appreciate the players Imber drafted for us in the final two rounds.

The deal would have looked a little better if I hadn't confused the draft days and been able to draft the prospects I wanted to with those picks.

You still got the best player in the deal and you could definitely fill the holes that the others left. Ovechkins don't come around every day.

I guess we'll see. I think he's got enough upside that he was worth a 27th round pick. All it takes is an injury or trade and I think you'd be surprised. The kid is NHL ready and could outplay Raycroft.

All my cap hits came from capgeek. Aren't they the same?

Edit: Just double checked - they're the same. Also, make sure you saw I switched Stoll in the starting lineup for Lapierre. Thanks!

Oy, I'm in trouble. BLF was standing over my shoulder on Saturday night when his picks were coming and he asked a couple times if he had enough salary. I assured him he would have enough once Bogosian signs. Now I see I gave him the wrong cap number for Jovanovski. A shortage of $2.4M!!! If Bogosian signs for the same money he made on his EL, he'll still be about $1.4M short. Now I have to go feel the wrath of the angry eyes...
