All BS aside! The big arguement against ties is that teams late in game played to not lose and get the 1 point! Sorry folks the same thing is happening now! But what's even worse is the Colorados, SJS, Boston's and NJD that are very good in the shootout lay back in OT to get to the shootout. Take away the loser point or devalue it and see teams play different.

I'm pretty sure the rules makes never intended a team like Vancouver to play almost 25% of their games in the shootout?

And teams that are good on the power play will try to get the other teams to take penalties. It's called tactics and strategies. Is the PP a gimmick?
