Penguins coach Dan Bylsma celebrated the three-year anniversary of his tenure as Penguins' coach by seeing an old teammate from his playing days ruin the night.

Teemu Selanne scored the 656th goal of his career to break a third-period tie in Anaheim's 2-1 victory at Consol Energy Center tonight.

The NHL's leading scorer, Evgeni Malkin, was held without a point. He entered the game having scored a goal in eight straight home games, which was the second longest mark in franchise history, trailing only a Mario Lemieux 11-game streak.

The Penguins' home winning streak came to an end in a 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks tonight at Consol Energy Center.

They had won six games in a row in their building.

Evgeni Malkin's goal streak of eight home games in a row also came to an end.

Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau, formerly of Washington, improved to 9-0-1 in Pittsburgh.

The Penguins took a 1-0 lead with the only goal of the first period. Pascal Dupuis stole the puck in his own end and chipped it up the boards, giving linemate Jordan Staal and Matt Cooke a two-on-one against Anaheim's Sheldon Brookbank. Staal beat Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller high on the glove side at 6:27.

The Pens score first and then lose to the Ducks. Reversal of furtune. Things just didn't seem to fall into place all game. As good as they looked in the first, scoring only one goal kind of left a bitter taste in the mouth, and you had the feeling of impending doom. For a team that arrived in Pittsburgh at four AM, Anehiem played better longer.

So much for the whining about the new NHL alignment and travel woes....
