Oklahoma City Barons defenceman Justin Schultz was named the CCM/American Hockey League Player of the Month for the month of October, the AHL office announced today.

Making his professional debut, Schultz found the scoresheet in each of his seven games played during October, totaling six goals and six assists for a league-leading 12 points for the Barons.

Good for him! League leader through one month, who would have called that?

As a side note, Yakupov is also leading the KHL in goals, ahead of some pretty serious names in that league.

If I asked you who would be leading the AHL scoring race in the latter part of November a few of your answers might have been Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and if he had been healthy enough to start the season even Taylor Hall had a chance. Well if you picked a player off the Oklahoma City Barons you would have been right. If you picked one of the three above players you would be wrong. You'd be close with Eberle, who is second in league scoring with Nugent-Hopkins not far behind in seventh. However, it’s Justin Schultz who is being chased by the AHL elite.

Its still the AHL, but this is looking more and more like an absolute coup for Tambellini.

I would rather put this in that "what pisses you off thread" but this lockout has robbed me of the opportunity to boo the hell out of Schultz.

lol

Hey, I've been on that side of the fence, so I have no issue with anger towards Schultz. More then one player has said thanks but no thanks to the Oilers over the years I've been a fan.
