Mikael Granlund, a 2010 first-round pick fresh off being named AHL Rookie of the Month, will likely miss a few weeks with a muscle strain in the lower part of his right leg. The Wild will know more possibly later today, but that's the thinking, hope and look of his situation right now.

To see video of the two incidents, see last night's blog.

Just got off the phone with Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher, who was with Mikael Granlund at his doctor's appointment this morning in Edina.

Granlund has been diagnosed with a lateral right ankle sprain and will miss two to four weeks. He is in a walking boot and will do his rehab in Houston.

"He'll be able to start doing more next week and is walking pretty good, but we wanted to make sure, and mercifully, this is not the worst case scenario," Fletcher said. "It's relatively good news. It's not a knee or high ankle sprain or anything like that. It's a common ankle sprain."

Fletcher did say though that depending on how he heals, he is questionable for the Nov. 18 Aeros vs. Rockford game at Xcel Energy Center.

Defenseman Jonas Brodin, who broke his clavicle when nailed by a Taylor Hall charge in Oklahoma City last Friday, underwent successful surgery late yesterday.

GM Chuck Fletcher indicated this was the course of treatment he preferred, but the decision would be left up to Brodin after consultation with team doctors yesterday afternoon. Fletcher said yesterday that surgery would entail having a plate inserted.

Brodin will miss two to three months, meaning if the lockout ends as hoped this month, Brodin's immediate jump to the NHL is impossible for now.

Mikael Granlund is also out two to four weeks with a sprained ankle.
