Alright, so because I didnt want to be bent over and taken advantage of by Dish and Direct TV (holy fees batman!), im exploring all options. I live in the Denver metro area, so I figured I was going to be in the blackout zone for Avs game, but I sent Gamecenter an email asking about it and giving my zip code anyways. their reply:

Please do NOT reply to this Email. If the information listed in this email does not resolve your customer service issue, please call 866-210-6349.
Greetings,

You don't have any local blackouts so you could see any team playing live. However, anytime a game is broadcasted on national tv like NBC, NBC Sports or NHL Network, the whole USA will be blacked out.

Thanks,

Please do NOT reply to this Email. If the information listed in this email does not resolve your customer service issue, please call 866-210-6349.

So, taking all bets, is the guy an idiot who cannot do his job, or is he correct and I am just an asshole.... its time for a poll!!!!!

now I fully intend on buying gamecenter when the season starts, just to see how this plays out, hell its worth a shot...

Hmmm...I've only had experience with the TV CenterIce and we all know even locally broadcasted games are blacked out. Are you getting it to mainly watch Avalanche games? It's hard to think Altitude wouldn't blackout the GameCenter games too. I would have to see it to believe it and I'm interested to see how this turns out. One thing for sure...save that email. You also might want to try emailing Altitude and ask them the same thing and see what they say.

i am assuming you are in the local tv area for avs games which would make him an idiot since gamecenter will black them out. but you can call them and complain and have them unblackout the game for you. i had a huge problem when i had it since they think im in the blackhawks tv area when im not. i had to call every time i wanted to watch the blackhawks.

You may get blacked out on the local feed, but you should be able to get the away team's feed, if memory serves. The only time I remember having a significant issue with GameCenter was for a Canucks/Wild game, but that was because the NHL Network had been scheduled to show that game and ended up showing a Calgary game instead...but the Canucks game was still blacked out on GameCenter because it had been originally scheduled to air on the network.

That had nothing at all to do with local-coverage blackouts, though.

Careful Avs, GCL blacks out coverage based on IP address, not zip code.

Also I voted jackass. Not because I think he's especially a jackass, but just because I assume everyone is.

Where's my option to vote that you are an assclown AND the guy is a jackass.

I just checked. Pricing and signup came online today:
https://gamecenter.n...ecure/gclsignup

$50, which is almost half as much as in previous years.

Just tried to link my Gamecenter account to my PS3 to watch on my 50" TV. Apparently this feature won't be available for a few more weeks, according to the nice tech support person at NHL.com. Bit of a pain.

The PS3 app was HORRIBLE last year. I mean seriously god-awful. The feed would skip back 3, 4 minutes in the game, wouldn't resume play on time after intermission breaks...it was just stupid bad.

You'd be better off running GameCenter on your computer browser and sending the signal to your TV that way. Far far less issues that way.

In the meantime, you could use a laptop, etc, and send the picture out to your TV.

Hopefully, for those with PS3s, this feature has been improved. I'm not using it, but does anybody know if Xbox's app is any better, or is this the first season for that?

Interesting you say that. I ended up watching the highlights of game 6 last year from the playoffs (the only thing I could watch) and it skipped several times and jumped back about 30 seconds once. If that is the way it is, I guess I'll have to borrow one of the kid's laptops or watch games at my desk (which I don't enjoy).

You could also use an HDMI cable to send the picture to your TV as well. You're not stuck watching on the laptop.

I don't recall trying the X-Box app last year...perhaps there wasn't even one available...god my memory sucks...but I think if it had been available and worth a damn I'd have remembered it. I just know for a fact the PS3 app sucked donkey balls and we had much better luck HDMI'ing the laptop to the TV or even just having the game full-screen on my laptop while I played video games on the TV. The only issue we really had with the browser feed is sometimes the video quality would fluctuate depending on our local provider and probably something on GameCenter's end as well.
