With the start of the 2012-13 NHL season finally here, TSN has unveiled the National Hockey League's Top 50 players as selected by a panel of experts. And for the third year in a row, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is on top of the list.

Crosby missed the first 20 games of the 2011-12 season due to the lingering effects of a concussion. He returned on Nov. 21, 2011 and scored two goals and two assists in a 5-0 win over the New York Islanders. But after playing seven more games, Crosby's symptoms returned and did not return to game action until he was back at 100 per cent. He finally came back on Mar. 15 and despite only playing 22 games last season, Crosby tallied eight goals and 37 points - including his 600th career point.

I love Crosby, but with his injuries in the past few seasons, no way I rank him #1. He's number 1 when playing, but he hasn't played!!

How Giroux gets 3rd spot when Stamkos has had 3 90+ point seasons back to back is also beyond me.

When Sidney Crosby plays, he is the best player.

I just feel they need to account for staying healthy, staying in the lineup needs to be part of the conversation.

The top 3 guys didn't even play full seasons last year. And Toews at 6 with only 59 games is a joke! Zetterberg at 22 is a joke! Hossa should be much higher than 32, he's one of the best two forwards in the NHL! Dustin Brown making the list at all is stupid! Taylor Hall? Really?

Old man Selanne has had more points and played in more games than Crosby the past couple of seasons. Hell, he played in all 82 last year.
