Article 5 - Free Agency
5.1. General. - Each team is allowed one standard free agent signing of their choosing during the season between the time the first puck is dropped in the NHL and the LSHA Trade Deadline. Further compensatory free agents can be picked up, but only in the event that an owner has one of his players retire, or join a rival pro league such as the KHL. No free agent pick up may be under the age of 25 at the time of the signing.
5.2. Term. - A newly-signed free agent must remain on his employer's team for two weeks, before being eligible for trade or waivers.
5.3. Restricted Free Agency - There is no such thing as restricted free agency in the LSHA.
The Calgary Cowboys would like to announce the signing of defenceman Steve Oleksy, finalizing the retirement and release of Alex Kovalev.
As a part of this move, please insert Oleksy into the lineup in place of Derek Smith and Chris Kreider into the lineup in place of Sven Baertschi. Smith and Baertschi can head to the bench.
