Heh. Might be a bit premature for that, but I did notice that it didn't taker Luongo to get his first start of the season.

Vigneault said it was always his plan to start Luongo in this game as its a back to back. Believe him or don't.

I believe him. It would make no sense to freak out after ONE game.

Schneider now knows how Luongo feels like after a Ducks game.

To be clear, I don't think anyone is freaking out... aside from the handful of Canuck fans reaching over for their riot gear.

Schneider's trade value was at it's highest at the end of last season, don't know if it makes sense to try and trade him now.

I think it made much more sense to trade Schneider in the summer. The Nucks would have had a bidding war on their hands.

I don't know if I can find evidence of it anywhere, but I was one of those people who thought they'd be better off trading Schneider for several reasons:

1. His value to other teams is higher and would bring a better return
2. He's still unproven as an every day NHLer and Luongo, in spite of all that has been written about him, is still an elite goaltender in the NHL.
3. Lack should prove to be as capable as Schneider in a backup role and may be ready to take over as a starter further down the road when you have maximized Luongo's value and then he becomes the mentor.
4. Luongo's cap hit is still very good for a #1 goalie, while Schneider may want much more when his current contract is up - perhaps much more depending on the market.

Remember how much Montreal was criticized for trading Halak over Price a couple years ago? It was the best thing for their organization, in spite of the heat they took over it.
