So I just read today that no punishment will be handed down to Brad Stuart for his questionable hit on Gabriel Landeskog in yesterdays game vs the Sharks. I'm livid that nothing will happen and the only reason is because Landeskog came back and played. To me thats total bs thats like hey you tried to murder that person but they are alive still so go free. You have to enforce the rules even is someone wasn't injured. It was a dangerous hit that shouldnt be in the game. Ask yourself what if it was your Captain? You'd react the same way. If it was a shoulder to shoulder to hit why was landy bleeding from his nose? I'm appalled by the nhl not doing a thing. And who the hell calls 2 minutes for fighting with a face shield. Watch the fight again O'byrne coulda pounded Stuart before the fight began when murray was off balance but he waited until he was standing and then you go call that bogus call?

I agree Landeskog did have his head down but Stuart left his feet and made contact with the head. Maybe not suspendable because he came back and had his head down but fineable very!

Perfectly good hit, IMO. Stuart didn't leave his feet until after contact. Come through the neutral zone with your head down, that's going to happen.
As far as the 2 minute minor, that's the new rule. Instigate a fight while wearing a visor, it's 2 minutes. Smid got the same penalty last week.

It was a dirty hit because Stuart threw an elbow into Landeskogs face....

BUT.... It wasnt a suspendable offence... Stuart should have recieved 4 for elbowing (double minor for blood) then there should have been 4 on 4 hockey in a scoreless game.... Instead the red hot sharks got 4 free minutes of powerplay time and the game was over....

There was definitely elbow to the face with that hit. Lockout ended, refs still suck. Oh well.

oh yeah btw everyone no Landeskog tonight because of a leg and head injury probably from the illegal hit! Listen if the rules were the same as the "old days" I wouldnt have problem but the fact they are trying to make the game "safer" (cough bs cough). because no one bleeds from the nose for a shoulder to shoulder hit.

I can see why many people would see it as an elbow. When Stuart came into contact with Landeskog his arms come up to keep him on balance after the collision. Any big hit with your shoulder will have your elbow coming up immediately after he hit to keep you from falling down. It's a knee jerk human reaction. The hit was clean and gorgeous. Reminds me of the mid to late 90's when those kinds of hits were not as rare. Players today don't really know how to hit hard AND clean. To me it is like an art form. Reminded me of some of Scott Stevens hits.

That photo is about half way through the hit. Here is a photo of the same hit a fraction of a second earlier.
My link His arm has not yet come up.
I know this won't change your mind, but watch this slo-mo video. At the 7-8 second mark you can see Stuart shoulder hit Landeskog's chest, and then his arm come up, just as Hot lava says.
It's a clean hit, IMO.

The principle point of contact is still the head... especially when you include the he jumped into the hit, his elbow was to the head.... you dont magically hop into the air after executing a hit after that when you have the momentum

the ONLY reason... and I mean the ONLY reason the NHL(and the Refs) chicken shitted out on this, was that Landeskog was not seriously hurt immediately after

but oh well, time to put a bounty on his head and end his career.... said no one eve.... oh wait... right....

what effin video are you watching... the head is clearly the principle point of contact... if it were landeskogs shoulder his head wouldnt have been knocked back

now, I retract the elbow call, albeit slightly... but unless Stuarts shoulder is where his elbow should be, thats a clear shoulder to the head... and the point where he started skating in to that point, to the point after the hit shows he jumped into it

Looks similarly like the hit Torres put on Hossa. Same thing happened with the shoulder going into him first and then up into his head. It is what it is. I just know this shit wouldn't be happening to Sakic on Scott Parker's watch.

I don't see an elbow in that play, but the hit was high... and probably higher than it needed to be.

before I get myself on trouble here again the last thing I will say on the subject is it was a HIGHLY questionable hit that warranted a fine and penalty. But nice to see the refs hating on the Avs again today anyone see PA Parenteau get straight boarded with no call haha wow man NHL is ridiculous!!!

I think some sort of disciplinary action needs to happen to the Avs as well for how they handled the situation. He should of never been allowed to return the the game.

If the proper procedures were followed (which im certain they were, this day and age) I have no issue with him returning...

For all we know the concussion could have been sustained later in the game...
