I was wondering why the first shot had to be redone. I thought it was a piece of stick that broke or something on the ice.

I didnt know the goalie can interfere with the shooter in a shootout. Thats the first I've seen that happen. Interesting

It was a sausage or hot dog, one of JJ's free concession items in January. Both of which - from personal experience - aren't all that good, I had better food at the Tsongas Arena when NJ's AHL affiliate was the Lowell Devils.

Anyway....it was the opinion of the referee the shot had to be taken again. I don't care who threw it, where their loyalties lay, or were they just annoyed they had to stay longer, or might miss the last train out of North Station to wherever they were headed, or whatever the reason they thought it was a good idea to show displeasure, it was stupid and reflects poorly. I'd be just as upset if someone threw something while any Devil was taking their shot.

An fyi - the 'might not make the train' excuse is bs, since it's possible to make it down from the upper balcony running down A LOT of stairs and watched the rest of a shootout from the station with tons of time before the last train, even with a few beers in you. AND the MBTA will hold the commuter rail trains if there is an overtime game in the TD Garden, though not sure about the subways - they run a little later than the commuter rail anyway.

Here's a link to the Puck Daddy story. With all the intelligent comments in the story and the comments.

It also probably would have been reshot, anyway, if Seguin missed. The ref would then be claiming that he could have been distracted by it.

No matter how you cut it, though, yeah, it's a dumb move. Not as dumb as throwing a lit road flare onto the ice, but it's right behind it.
