Frick, you can't even be strong on the puck anymore. This is pathetic.

Seems to be going both ways, hopefully it evens out. Sucks though..

Its definitely gone both ways, no favouritism, so that's at least a bonus, but just let them play.

Now we see two much more obvious penalties go uncalled. Drives me crazy.

Would rather see this game finished 4 on 4 rather than a shootout..

Great comeback by Edmonton. Really showed that they are a talented team. Great game...

Disappointing ending for Dubnyk. You've gotta hit the net in the shootout.

Was at the game tonight, definitely deserved this win as opposed to the one vs the Ducks. Still could play better.

At first I thought Yakupov scored the first Oilers goal tonight based on his celebration and the fact he went to fist bump the bench ahead of both Gagner and Fistric. Then I found out he was only the secondary assist.

The NHL is really two leagues this year, in the classic Major League Baseball sense. With the two conferences not playing any game against each other, the only proper way to look at league leaders is to divide based on where they play. After this game, Taylor Hall now sits 9th in his league in scoring, and 5th in assists. Damn nice start.

Plus
-Dubynk was terrific in this one. Stood his ground and kept himself in good position. Again, if he was flashier, he'd have a better reputation league-wide, since it's often the relatively unimportant stuff which gets noticed.
-Taylor Hall was, once again, the team's best offensive player. Moved the puck forward all night long, really used his speed to push back the Sharks defense and create chances. He's good at hockey.
-Nick Schultz was a big part of a PK that kept the Sharks off the board in 5 chances, including the OT 4 on 3 situation. Sprung Ryan Smyth for a breakaway with a great pass, got in shooting lanes and blocked 3 shots.

Minus
-Ryan Whitney had two shifts from hell and the next thing you know, the Oilers were down 2-0. Bang, like that, with some pretty bad plays just past his own blueline.
-The other side of that situation is that in both instances, Hemsky moved the puck in that area and gave the defense almost nowhere safe to go.
-I didn't think much of the officiating both ways. Yakupov was called for a cheesy crosschecking penalty right after the ref saw Gomez give him a shot, and the penalty called on Clowe at the blueline was also horseshit.

Ralph Krueger
-I can't begin to guess why PRV was sent down so that Darcy Hordichuk could play 1:11. Roster issue created because the team didn't send Teddy Peckman down for a re-condition stint in OKC.
-Glad to see Krueger use his timeout, this time, after the Sharks scored two quick ones. Not saying it made the difference, but stopping to let them settled down didn't hurt them.

Best F - Taylor Hall
Best D - Nick Schultz

I agree with you, I came away thinking Taylor Hall was by far the best player on the ice for the Oilers. That says a lot coming from me as I hadn't really been impressed with him until this season. Eberle had impressed me more in the other two seasons.

Hall's been dynamite so far, but it's not much different than last year. While Eberle had a CorsiRel of 5.7, and Nugent-Hopkins was sitting at 5.6 (really really nice for a rookie), Hall was at 15.2 for CorsiRel (13th in the NHL, 5th at LW). Talk about him being disappointing (and I'm not directing that at you) is absolutely insane.

That kid can already paddle the boat upriver in whitewater.
