The Senators may have to get used to life without Jason Spezza.

The Senators centre didn't skate for the third straight day Wednesday and sat out his second consecutive game at night. There's a chance a back injury that flared up following the club's 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins Sunday could keep him out long-term.

This scares me...

PS damned isn't going to like this...hehe

Jason Spezza did not play in Ottawa’s 3 -2 win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night, nor in Wednesday’s home game versus the Montreal Canadians. The nature of the injury has not officially been disclosed, but is an upper body injury. He has not skated for three days since the win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. What really has Sens fans worried is secrecy surrounding this injury.

It's a death warrant for an already struggling fantasy team!! lol

Not to mention it's a big blow to the Sens period.

They say he is having surgery and could be out 2 months or more.

The Ottawa Senators could will be without the services of centre Jason Spezza for at least two months and possibly longer.

General manager Bryan Murray told the media on Thursday that the 29-year-old will have surgery for a herniated disc in Toronto on Friday.

"I can't give you a time frame (on Spezza's return) simply because until the surgery and rehab starts we won't know the total extent," said Murray.

When asked if it will be approximately two months of rehabilitation, Murray said it was, "in that time frame."

Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray won't rush into a trade in wake of Jason Spezza injury

Bryan Murray is going to take time to ponder his next move.

First, the Senators GM will watch his team. Then, he'll likely look around to see what other teams have to offer up.

Full story

Thank god for this, I'm glad he doesn't make a stupid move with Spezza gone, or at least that seems to be the plan.

Although it may cost have cost him the season, Jason Spezza says it was the only option.

The Ottawa Senators centre spoke to the media for the first time Friday morning since undergoing back surgery for a herniated disc a week ago, and admitted he had no other choice.

"It was really bad," he said. "It got to the point where there was no way I was going to be able to play, so it makes it frustrating.

"But there wasn't really an option once we got down to it."
