WILMINGTON, MA – The Bruins have suited up for work after getting hammered on the ice and on the scoreboard by the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night, and – as expected – some bodies are missing for the Black and Gold.
Shawn Thornton has been diagnosed with a concussion by the Bruins medical staff and will be out for the next 7-10 days according to a release from the team, though putting timetables on brain injuries can be a dicey exercise.
Thornton headed straight to the dressing room from the penalty box after serving out his five minutes following his fight with 6-foot-8 Buffalo enforcer John Scott, and never returned to the game. The Scott bout was Thornton’s third fight this season in his seventh game of the year less than two weeks into the season.
I expect Jamie Tardif will see some playing time in the next few games. Daniel Paille won't travel with the team to Toronto, as he's having the injury he sustained from a high stick evaluated.
