Add RW Teddy Purcell to the small but growing list of Lightning players wearing cut-resistant Kevlar socks.

As with C Steven Stamkos, Purcell said he is making the change because of the injury to Senators D Erik Karlsson, whose Achilles tendon was accidentally shredded by the skate of Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke.

"They're a little bit of a different texture," Purcell said. "But if you can save yourself a big injury like that, it's something you want to get used to."

Who else?

My son has a friend who has a Kevlar neck guard. Can't skimp when it comes to safety!
