According to @chris kerber Jake Allen is backing up Halak tonight against the Avs. Is there more to look into this matter, is the Blues really thinking about turning their two headed monster into a three headed monster. or is this just a way to give  elliott "a little time to clear his head". or could it be a move is a brewing. I'm not trying to be a rumor starter, but, elliott being a healthy scratch two of the last three games has to worry the all star from a year ago.

Well, guess not (for now) as Allen was reassigned back to peoria this morning, Personally, I like elliott more than Halak in the long term, however, Halak does have  more experence especially the playoffs, but his Hamstring is definely a real concern when it comes to making him the undisputed #1. However, elliott's issues I think is more mental and being able to play at a high level without having someone trying to take his job away. Well, now that Allen has proven he can play at the NHL level and that there is little doubt that in time he can be the Blues #1 goaltender of the future. Elliott needs relax and focus or he might find his way traded out  of town and allen will be knocking on Halak's door. I think the Blues feel alittle more biased towards Halak, as they traded decent propects to acquire him when he was a playoff hero for montreal, and elliott was just a average goaltender signed as a free agent. but, i doubt after next season, both will return and elliott needs to prove he is the better option if he wants to stay here.

ohh I agree, it would be great to resign both, but I think with so many young guys the Blues need to lock up, they aren't going to tie almost 7 million plus dollars into their goaltending, especially if Allen can prove that he's NHL ready.

I'm personally not a huge fan of Elliot. Played out of his skin last season, but I think that's balancing a bit this year. He's still got next season under contract doesn't he? As well as Allen did, I would think they'd like to still give him next year in the A to work on his game, then they'll let Elliot go as a FA and then bring Allen up and start working towards usurping Halak :)

before we made the trade for Halak, I thought Elliott would have been a great option for the note, I thought he wasn't getting much team support in  senators, so when we signed him, I was kinda happy. but wasn't sure how it would work with Halak, and I agree last season we insane by both goalies. but, my only issue is Halak kinda gets banged up alittle easier than I think he should, and at times when he hits his rough spots, he seems to completely shut down and even his body language acts like he gives up. so I have a hard time putting all my eggs in his basket without a strong plan B if needed. But, I kinda agree that next season will be elliott's last in st. louis, unless something crazy happens. But, I would hope that we would try to trade him at the deadline next season and get a pick or something for him, and then allen can have a half of season in minors and then get a little taste of being a regular NHLer and not just a fill in and then sent back down to peoria. Also, Jordan Binnington will be 20 next season, and will no longer be able to play juniors, so he would need to either report to Alaska or Peoria. So, I think it would be natural to move Allen up to start his journey to unseating Halak as the Blues' #1.

You all can call it what you want, But, I have a feeling that Allen being called back up after the Kings' game last night, is a line in the sand, Halak may seem safe not to be moved, but, he is being put on alert. The goalie who wants it most will start. I doubt it will happen, but we have a little less than a month till the trade deadline, and I wouldn't be surprised to see elliott traded away for picks or something. I think it's more realistic next season, but wouldn't be surprised to see it this year to show the team, we don't care what you did last season, we care about how you perform and help the team now.
