I am a loyal and hardcore Devils fan. Born and raised in NJ but now residing in Florida. I love the game of hockey. And because of that have been a Florida Panthers season ticket holder since 2005-2006 season. I have started to cheer for the Panthers (except when they play NJ) hoping they make the playoffs and I get to see the Devils even more then twice a year. But this season is alot like previous years. Their style of play has become yawn inducing and frustrating to say the least. They are a horrible team. Now I collect hockey jerseys, all types. I have a few Panthers and a bunch from other teams (70+ in all). My Devils collection tops 25+. I wanna wear my Devils jerseys more, I hate that they just sit there and only 2 really make an appearance per season. I want to see what everyone's perspective is on wearing the jersey of a team that is not even playing in the building that night (ex: wearing a NJ jersey to a FL-CAR game). Is it in bad form or does it seem ok because the Panther are losing and at the end of the day I am a displaced Devils fan. I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.

I totally understand that.  I'm in the same boat with the many Avalanche jerseys I have. I myself wouldn't wear a jersey to a game if that team wasn't playing.  I've thought abut it many times but have always made myself not do it.

If the jersey is of a team that isn't playing in the game, but is a player jersey of a guy who is in the game (now on a different team), I would declare that ok - for instance wearing a Devils Parise jersey to a Wild game.

Any hockey jersey (aside from jersey fouls) are allowed at any hockey game any where

 

 

 

the only jersey fouls are the "personalized" jerseys, etc.

It depends. Like, When Modin was playing for Columbus and I was there for a game and they were playing the Flames, I wore a Lightning jersey to show I was anti-Flames and pro-Modin. 

 

At the end of the day it's really up to the individual person. That, for me, is the most I would stretch, but I've seen many people wearing random jerseys to games. To each their own.

Way we kind of view it over here is we're damn proud to be a fan of our team, so we're going to show that off. But you put it on, and you accept that you're more than likely going to endure a lot of taunts if that team isn't playing. All worth it though :)

Gotta say I like Twiggys reasoning. If your a fan of a team, why not show it off proudly. Hell, I'd wear my Yankees jersey to Fenway, for a game between the Sox and Orioles. lol.

I am  devils fan with mostly Panthers friends. Two Ranger friends. A Red Wings friend. And we all have season seats. I take crap regardless. lol. Im always prepared for crap. You need to be when you go to an opposing teams arena. As long as I'm not touched or have drinks poured on me I'm fine. haha.

I am in your boat buddy. I am a Devils fan that only gets to wear my Devils jersey every other year! It sucks. Wish I could wear it more but I do feel weird wearing it at a Coyotes game when the Devils arent playing. The Coyotes are my #1 team so I just couldnt do it if the Devils werent there.

I just go with what I feel like wearing for the day, personally. I couldn't care less what other people thought of my choice. Of course, I don't go to games that often, either.

I usually just wear 1 of my multiple bevy of Hurricanes jerseys to a home game, with the occassional wearing of my Hartford Whalers Ron Francis jersey.

 

I've only worn a non-canes jersey to a game once,  that was back in March of 09 when the Canes played the Flames.  I wore my Dallas stars jersey cause it was after the infamous Sean Avery "Sloppy Seconds" comment.

 

I barely even wear any of my non-canes jerseys, they're just hanging up on the back of my bedroom door.

Guess I'm in the minority here as I agree with Q.  I just think it looks like you got lost or forgot who's playing that night.  Support the teams there.

This is somewhat of a stretch, but I could probably make this exception.  Given my statement above, this would qualify under supporting a player who's there.

That answers my question about wearing my Tangradi, Penguins jersey to the Jets @ Hurricanes game.

 

I don't think I will wear it. I am in that group that doesn't like to wear jerseys of teams not participating in the game.

In that case, HIM should start their own hockey team. One of their shirts is all I've worn to a game since I've gotten back to going to games at all.
