Oooooh!!! They are going to trade Gagner and Whitney to Philadelphia for Schenn and Schenn!

Chris Pronger is coming home so that he can retire as an Oiler!

Hush, you!

Sorry... for a second I thought Joe Nieuwendyk worked for the Oilers.

Brayden Schenn and Braydon Coburn were names being thrown around, on the Flyers part, whilst Gagner and Petry and possibly a 2nd/3rd rounder.

I got to see Schenn up close for a third of a season in the Dub and I have no doubt he has the tools to be a #1 center, but certainly a #2. The problem is, he's really only got one advantage over Gagner, and that is size. He can't win faceoffs much, either, in the NHL (I remember he was pretty decent in the Dub, but that doesn't seem to have translated into the NHL). And are you really that much further ahead getting Coburn for Petry? Not so sure.

There is a realistic chance that they could have been there for Team Canada. They also may have been looking at the Caps.

Yup.
Straight up, I'd just as soon stick with Gagner over Schenn, and that shouldn't be taken as a knock against Schenn. For all the talk about Gagner's lack of size, nobody ever seems to notice that he's almost 200 lbs. Weighs more than Schenn, though Schenn probably has more frame to pack muscle on to over the years.
Coburn? He can do some things, but Petry is a big part of things moving forward due to what he brings on the ice as well as having such a low cap hit, while Coburn is getting $4.5M/yr.

Kevin Lowe was seen talking with Holmgren. As far as I know from this report, there was no contact made with any member of the Caps organisation...

Yeah, I'm not sure the Philly website is correct about Schenn's weight. The Blades listed him as 190 when he was here two years ago and I can't believe he hasn't put on some muscle since then. And he is physically larger than Gagner. I took my son to get an autograph with him and his hands are HUGE. I was pretty sure he'd be 215-220 when he bulked up.

Oh, and brother Luke is listed one inch taller and 229lbs on the Maple Leafs website. Put the two of them side by side and Luke doesn't look much bigger than Brayden.

Any change Bryzgalov might be involved?

I hope not.

I'd guess that most of the weights we see listed for players aren't always very accurate, kinda like how I saw the Yankees list Chuck Knoblauch at 6 feet tall after he was traded to New York. Yeah, right...

Further information came in that the Oilers staff were indeed in Philly for Team Canada business...

That's a relief. For a minute there, I was worried they were in town to do their job and not their volunteer position.
