great move. vally is a solid backup, probably one of, if not the best in the league. and he is very supportive of henrik and a great team guy. i wouldn't want anyone else backing up this team.

Yeah, agreed, it is a nice move. He's played pretty well when I've seen him step in.

Stephen Valiquette is a good backup goaltender signing him to a one year contract worth $725K was good. But in three months he turns 32 so I want to see them this year try to use one of the good young goaltenders to get a chance in the NHL. 24 year old Miika Wiikman, 25 year old Matt Zaba, and 20 year old Antoine Lafleur are all in the minor league system.

Wow, that is a very good price. He should continue to do well for them.

Good sign for the Rangers, he's pretty solid for a backup.

This is a worthy signing. Stephen Valiquette signed a one-year contract last summer to stay with the Rangers and I think despite his limited playing time, he earned it again to return next season.

Even though he had a few lousy games, for the most part he's been very reliable and solid between the pipes. Working with Benoit Allaire during the season was a big plus and that helped improve his game. Valiquette will be needed to give Henrik Lundqvist time off on back-to-back nights or if God forbid he gets hurt, they'll need that reliable presence as a backup.

I'm not sold on the kids in the system yet, but they will have to be re-evaluated in training camp this fall to see if they have developed enough to warrant a legit shot at an NHL job soon.

Its a good signing. Valley has been good for us the past few years in the backup role. Plus, should one of the kids in the system really stand out at camp and win the backup job, Valley's small salary will make him easy enough to move.

i doubt any of the kids in our system will make a serious run at the backup job anytime soon.

I'd rather let the kids develop a little more in the minors rather than sit on the bench and watch Lundqvist. I like Valley as our backup. He can do his job when he's needed.
